About the PLIX Facilitating Creative Learning Workshop Series

This workshop series introduces creative learning practices to support STEAM learning.

• Why is there an application process?

We’re shipping out material kits for this workshop series so you can have a hands-on experience with our STEAM activities while learning the facilitation practices.

• Who is eligible to apply?

This year, we welcome all library professionals at public libraries, school libraries, academic libraries, and others who currently run or plan to run STEAM activities at their libraries. Open to all U.S. and international libraries.

• How many people will be accepted?

We’re preparing for 50!

• How do I convince my supervisor to let me participate?

If they love narratives, point them to our recently published news article about PLIX, that introduces the work we do.

If they love data, point them to our first-ever impact report.

• Do I need to attend all the workshops? What are the dates?

Yes, you need to commit to all three workshops. The dates are:

1. Thu Oct 16th, 1-2pm ET
2. Thu Oct 30th, 1-2pm ET
3. Thu Nov 13th, 1-2pm ET

Time zone conversion, 1pm EST = 12pm CST / 11am MST / 10am PST / 7am HST / 18h BST / 19h CET

• Does this workshop series come with materials?

We’re sending a small package of materials for doing the activities in the workshop series.

• What is the PLIX Ambassador Program? How do I apply for it?

This workshop series is usually part of the PLIX Ambassador Program. You’ll need to go through this workshop series (or have participated in similar PLIX workshops in the past) before applying to the Ambassador Program.

Ambassador Program benefits include:

1. A cozy and connected community of 12 like-minded peers
2. Free PLIX activity kits of your choice to run a STEAM in your library
3. Play testing new PLIX activities and resources
4. Opportunity to co-design a STEAM learning experience with a PLIX Intern (MIT undergraduate). Last year’s library programs include:
• A Hawaiian Avian STEAM Escape Room
• Rube Goldberg STEAM Contraptions
